Cookie Crisp Addition!

As a special treat (not to mention a great way to teach addition!), the kids were able to use Cookie Crisp cereal on Monday to create their own "addition word problems." It was a lot of fun for everyone!

Oreo Party

Last week, the kids had a chance to earn an "Oreo and Dorito" party for having such a great week. They were able to enjoy these treats out on the "porch" at the end of the day on Friday!

Adding with Counter Chips!

As an introduction to addition, we used colored counter chips to designate certain numbers of two different colors...and then add them together!

Design by Number

On this day, the kids had to divide their paper into seperate sections so they could draw a specific number of objects in each section.

Our class will have the opportunity to get 100% fruit juice slushies this Thursday, September 23, 2010! The cost of the slushy is $1.00.

Scholastic Book Orders

Our first Scholastic Book Order form came home Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Please look over the form and have your order turned in by next Friday, September 24, 2010. Checks are made payable to Scholastic. If you would like to donate books to our classroom, that would be fantastic. I really like the looks of the "collections," such as the "comprehension" collection, the "sight words" collection, and the "phonics" collection.

"All Around Town" Field Trip!

Our first field trip is in the works! On Friday, October 1, 2010, we will be headed out on our "All Around Town" field trip. The trip, which is based on our current "Transportation" unit, is currently scheduled to include: breakfast at IHOP, a visit to the Tuscaloosa Airport, lunch aboard the Bama Belle, and a visit to the Tuscaloosa Fire Station. More information (including cost) about the trip should be coming home in the upcoming weeks!
